Baby Shoes Shopping Guide

We know all too well that every parent are more than excited to experience a baby's first, and most of them have baby book records tracking every tender moment to prove it. The first smile, the first chuckle, the first set of teeth, the first step and speaking of steps, parents are just as anxious to get their dear baby her very first pair of shoes. Almost all mom and dads scrutinize each item that they purchase specially for their baby. Their minds are full of questions on whether the item would not only suit and match their baby's eyes or their skin color but more importantly whether the article is safe, non-toxic and not harmful for their baby's.

In addition to this, when it comes to shoes, parents also ask on when their bundle of joy should start to wear shoes. There is no steadfast rule on the instance when babies should begin putting on shoes. Eager mommies and daddies pull out infant shoes the moment they find that their baby can now stand on her own two feet. While others who want to give more time for the baby to kick around on bare foot, feel the need to wait. People who are in the business of selling baby's shoes tell that the best hint to tell if the baby is all set for his first pair of shoes, is when he is ready to walk around outside of the walls of the home; on the lawn, on the sidewalk, or perhaps take a walk in the park.

In choosing baby's shoes, the fit is of utmost importance. Baby's feet are sensitive. Shoes that fit too tight would definitely only bring about tears as your baby would feel pain and can even suffer from foot blisters. They would also have difficulty walking. It would also be tough for your baby to carry on with too loose shoes. You might find your baby living the tale of Cinderella when you get home and find she only has a shoe left. To get accurate measurements, ask your pediatrician during your medical visit to measure your toddler's feet. You can then match up these measurements with a shoe sizing chart that is usually available on shoe shops offering baby shoes.

Go for shoes that are flexible and soft to the touch. Your baby will be walking more comfortable in shoes made up of breathable material. As early at this age, your child may have his or her own personal taste. So go for shoes that she seems to be fond of. Little children, more often than not, likes those shoes that make a delightful squeak sound when you step on them. It is said that the squeaks motivate the kids to walk as they enjoy hearing the sound each time. This is also a good advantage for parents especially when they are in a crowded place. The squeaking can help mommy and daddy easily track where their kids are by simply following the sound of happily striding baby.
